Summer’s Almost Here

Processed with VSCO with a5 preset

But I’m a Winter kinda gal. If it was a question between being too cold or too hot, I would have always chosen the cold option hands down. The whole argument that you can always layer on more as compared to not being able to keep taking off clothes, still holds strong for me and it’s the point I bring up if the argument begins in a conversation. Maybe it has to do with being self-conscious and feeling much more comfortable covering up instead of wearing less in hot weather. Either way, I hate the stickiness of suncreen and being surrounded in stuffy warm air. I hate ice cream melting down your hands and stinging sunburns. And don’t even get me started on the swarms of flies and mosquitos and bugs.

Why Expiry Dates Aren’t So Bad

Warsaw2.jpg

I am rarely in it for the long haul.

I’ve been employed by 12 workplaces yet I’ve only resigned from 3*.

I knew my long-term relationship was going to end well before it actually did.

I’ve fostered amazing friendships that I knew would not realistically last past a certain date for reasons x, y or z.

Why? Because who cares if it’s not forever; I’m not going to base my life off the ifs of the future. If I can see the present value of it, I will give it my all.. And when the time comes for that final goodbye, I’ll walk away with a smile on my face knowing that I’ve gained experiences I would have regretted passing up on.

I’m an ABC

chinawalkway2

That’s Australian Born Chinese for those that aren’t familiar with the initialism. Although I have seen Americans use it for themselves with the A standing for American, the basic principle is the same. I was born and raised here in Australia and it’s a phrase that I and many of my friends are familiar with. I’ve been called it by several people who come from China and try to figure out if I’m like them when they ask me when I came to Australia and commend me on my great English. I’m not really that kind of “fresh off the boat” Chinese. Got my birth certificate to prove it, I swear.

Who Are You?

Worms.jpg

And who am I for that matter?

Humans have this strange and inherent need to be liked by everyone.. Which is really bizarre when you think about it. Everyone is so different; some people love a wheatgrass shot just before their bikram yoga session, others love tequila shots followed by a trusty old HSP.

It’s kind of exciting that you’ll never meet the same person twice.

Pay It Forward

dusseldorf1.jpg

I was recently on holidays in Europe. Although I don’t consider myself a particularly cynical being, I’ve over the last month caught myself time and time again questioning the reasons behind random acts of kindness. Whether it’s offering to drive me to the airport, housing me in a foreign city, shouting a meal or going out of their way to ensure that my disorientated ass doesn’t end up in the wrong district, I’d without fail tell myself that they must want something in return. Maybe they expect a present/payment/sex as a thank you? Maybe they have a lot of spare time and they’re using me as a time-filler? Surely they can’t be helping me out just cause, right?

I Wanna Be A Pokemon Trainer

melbournestreetart

As I’m sure almost everyone out there knows or has heard, Pokémon Go was released two weeks ago. I’ll be honest, I didn’t jump on downloading it straight away even though I knew so many people who did; I hesitated because it seemed like such a gimmicky fad that wouldn’t really be much fun to actually play. That one decision cost me a day of catching pokemon. Yes, I regret it.

#GiveElsaAGirlfriend

frozen-elsa-181673.jpg

For those that are unfamiliar with the #GiveElsaAGirlfriend campaign, the hashtag is aiming for exactly what it sounds like it’s aiming for.

Now I’m not going to lie. When I first read it, I got a bit confused. Elsa? Elsa from Frozen Elsa? Yes, that Elsa. Oh okay. That would be pretty cool I guess. But I’m an avid supporter of gay rights and I actually love the idea that Elsa may be getting a girlfriend. So why did I second-guess it at first?
